Welcome to Orinda

Orinda has a population of 19,646 with a total area covering 27.7 sq. miles. The location is prime being just 14 miles from downtown San Francisco, just beyond the Berkeley Hills through the Caldecott Tunnel. The first homes were built there in 1933 for San Franciscans looking for warmer summer weather. Orinda has maintained its small town rural feel and is a safe, quiet, beautiful community. It is characterized by its rolling hills, lush trees, and winding roads. The city is divided by the areas north (The Village) and south (The Theater District) of hwy 24. The simple freeway access and the BART station allow for an easy commute to the greater Bay Area.
